ANKARA, Turkey (AP) ? Imprisoned Kurdish rebel leader Abdullah Ocalan says peace talks with Turkey are making "positive progress" and that he plans to make a "historic" announcement to coincide with a Kurdish spring festival.
In a message relayed by Kurdish legislators who visited him on his prison island, Ocalan on Monday also suggested that Turkey's parliament should pass reforms to support the peace efforts.
Ocalan is widely expected to call on his fighters to declare a cease-fire and to start retreating from Turkey during Thursday's spring festival.
Reports indicate that, in return, Turkey will enact reforms to improve the rights of Kurds.
